Windfall Apples

At this time of year my garden is covered in apples fallen off the tree. I eat / cook / juice what I can, but still have lots left over, particularly the small ones that are too much hassle to peel and chop. The larger ones often have bruises and grubs in. I can stick them in the compost of course but do I remember right, someone wanted windfall apples for chickens?
