Crossrail Delayed

Several topics have noted or discussed the positive impact Crossrail could have on our commutes from SE23. Well for those who were looking forward to this, I am sorry to advise that Crossrail has finally announced which was widely anticipated.

The opening has just been delayed until Autumn 2019… a delay of almost a year.

:frowning:

Of course this may also lead to another year of line disruptions for London Overground particularly on weekends.

I personally find this disappointing. Not in the delay to the start of the service, but just the lack of ability to execute the project to either time or budget.

Why the London public is not more bothered about the below is beyond me. I am sure that Mr Duncan learned a lot from his time on Crossrail, like when to best jump between a sinking ship and a gravy train.

I was gutted by this news. I recently started working near Tottenham Court Road, and the commute is a lot longer --and a lot more subject to delays-- than I was used to (working in The City). Now I have a whole more year before I get back my sub-hour easy commute.
