Description

Frendsbury Garden needs your help to construct its outdoor classroom.

Frendsbury Garden is a local community garden loved in the area and runs under 5’s nature and craft sessions, an after school club and health and wellbeing gardening sessions for isolated and vulnerable adults. The garden is also used by the local schools for classes such as maths and biology but there is no shelter from the rain.

Can you give a day or two of your time to help build the classroom? No formal building skills are necessary; if you would attempt an IKEA flatpack, you have the skills we need. Tools, hard hats and expert guidance will be on hand and lunch will be provided for volunteers on the day.

As the garden will be a construction site: all volunteers will be required to wear steel toe boots . Please, bring your own, if you have a pair. The garden is looking to acquire some in the most common sizes for borrowing, just in case. Please wear socks; the shoes will be disinfected between use.

The site is open from 8:30am- 5pm. We need people to commit for the day but want to be inclusive, so please inform us if you can only do school hours (9:30am - 3pm). The site will run rain or shine so please wear appropriate clothing for the weather.

For Insurance purposes, only 18yrs and older can volunteer on site.

Frendsbury garden is on the 343 and 484 bus route. The nearest stations are Brockley and Nunhead.
