Please can you check the times of this closure? I was previously informed by Network Rail that they would be working between HOP and FOH from 23.59 Sunday to 03.50 Monday, in which case trains are running on Sunday but the last few trains may be cancelled.
I have tested TFL ‘Plan a Journey’ facility and it shows trains running during the day.
Southern Rail site says:
Southern
All day Sunday , no trains will run between London Bridge and East Croydon / West Croydon via New Cross Gate. A reduced service will run to / from London Bridge via Peckham Rye with extended journey times.
Buses will run between New Cross Gate and West Croydon. Please use London Underground services on the Jubilee Line and London Overground services between London Bridge and New Cross Gate via Canada Water.
The information came from a weekly email I get from TFL every Thursday which arrived just before I posted on here, Although it wouldn’t be the first time TFL have not updated Journey Planner for weekend engineering work I’ve just checked TFL Journey Planner for a Forest Hill to London Bridge journey on Sunday morning at 11am and it’s telling me to get a replacement bus from Forest Hill to New Cross Gate then London Overground to Canada Water and Jubilee to London Bridge! And for Forest Hill - Norwood Junction at the same time a replacement bus. So the information matches what I posted!
Is it a last-minute closure? I did test Journey Planner before I posted (honest!) but it’s changed and you’re right. Thanks for the flag, I do need to travel on Sunday!
No I got the email and there were signs at the station too.
Out of interest is the 176 running to Waterloo still as I think I will have to use that route to get to work due to the unreliability of the rail replacement service.
(yes believe it or not people who live here do have to work weekends )
I think it’s been planned a while as seem to recall seeing it several weeks ago when I last checked the weekend line closures on the TFL website.
Network Rail have possession of the line from 0115 Sunday until 0400 Monday. There will be a replacement bus between London Bridge and West Croydon (via Crystal Palace). It has been planned for quite some time, however TfL site isn’t always updated accordingly.
Also, all replacement buses when the line is closed south of New Cross Gate/London Bridge, are supplied and organised by Southern, not London Overground. Any issues/complaints with the replacement bus need to be directed to Southern.
176 runs to Tottenham Court Road stopping at several places were you can get on Underground such as Elephant and Castle (Bakerloo/Northern) and Waterloo (Bakerloo/Northern/Jubilee). Also the 185 Bus from Forest Hill stops at Oval where you can pick up Northern line and Vauxhall for Victoria line. Trains are running from Catford Bridge (Bus 185 from Forest Hill) to London Bridge tomorrow from where you can then change for either Waterloo East or Charing Cross mainline trains or Jubilee/Northern line. Would suggest checking your door to door journey on TFL Journey Planner or Citymapper.
