…due to something on the track. Think line is doomed Sydenham to West Croydon but maybe trains from Crystal Palace still coming in
Looks like most trains / overground cancelled this morning from HOP into London Bridge or Canada Water
Ok so one train came in - virtually impossible to get on. For anyone looking for other ways to get in I am going to try to get a 171 to New Cross and get the overground from there which I assume is running.
There is an update on the National Rail website:
A tree has fallen on the railway line at Penge West. Consequently, trains between Sydenham and East Croydon / West Croydon may be cancelled, delayed or diverted.
We anticipate that major disruption will continue until 11:00.

Tree is still there but HOP trains towards town are running relatively normal as usual.
The lines should have reopened
All lines have been reopened following a tree having fallen onto the railway line at Penge West. Trains between Sydenham and East Croydon / West Croydon may be cancelled, delayed or diverted.
We anticipate that major disruption will continue until 12:00.

This happens every year - first bit of wind after summer growth and a bit of tree or something falls on the line and stops everything.
With the number of trees that National Rail have chopped down on the railway embankments on our line over the last few years I’m surprised there was anything left to fall on the track! Unless the tree wasn’t orignally on railway property.
It makes a change from leaves on the line to a whole tree!
I got to the station about 7.00 a.m. this morning. The first Overground train from West Croydon was cancelled. Fortunately, the train came from Crystal Palace, but was at least 5 minutes late.
