Family Cycle Rides

Lewisham Cyclists are leading weekly bike rides for families on Fridays during the summer holidays. Short, easy rides on traffic free paths and quiet roads, with marshals to keep us safe at junctions. This coming Friday, the 5th August, leaving the cafe in Ladywell Fields again at 10.30am. This time heading south down the Waterlink Way to Lower Sydenham then off on some quiet roads to Beckenham Place Park to the cafe there. Then through the woods and back to the Waterlink Way and Ladywell…about 8 miles this time.

Would be even better if there was something in the weekend where families with (a) working parent(s) could go

Well we already do weekend rides, every weekend usually. These are not always suitable for families, but we try and include two a month which are. The other two are for more experienced cyclists. Yesterday, for example, we did a ride to Crystal Palace Park and back to Ladywell. If you keep an eye on our rides and events page, and read the ride description, it should indicate which are suitable for families and which aren’t. The Friday rides are extra family rides to try and give people more activities in the holidays.

We are off to Peckham Rye with the family ride tomorrow (Friday 12th) visiting cafe, playground, pond. Then back to Ladywell via Nunhead cemetery for a little ramble and maybe some blackberry picking. Meet at 10000 hands cafe in Kafywell Fields at 10.30am
