This experimental and on-trend taster course is an ideal introduction to textile dyeing for new learners, and would also be an ideal complement to other textiles courses such as hand stitched and machine embroidery techniques or patchwork & quilting. You will learn how to prepare different fabrics, yarns & threads for dyeing using a range of different plant materials. You will create beautiful subtle colour variations using, as examples, avocado stones, onion skins, daffodil heads & nettles (and this will be dependent on their specific availability). Techniques will cover: preparing a dye bath & how to dye fibres in it, how to mordant (fix) and modify the colour of the dyed fibres.
