Unbelievable!! Homebase parking charge

Just wanted to share this…
so, last week, Homebase on Bromley road were giving away their plants and flowers from their garden centre free of charge and asking for a donation to the NHS as a gratitude.
I drove in to the car park and parked my car for all of 11 minutes to have a look if I wanted any of the plants or flowers and make my donation to the NHS.

Today, I have received a contractual parking charge notice asking me to pay £100 as I had parked in the car park of homebase at a time when the store was closed.
There were no signs to say the car park was not in operation.

I am mortified!

The fine will have been issued by a third party using ANPR technology which Homebase have outsourced monitoring their car parks to. Make sure you take advantage of your right to appeal the charge, explaining that the store was open as they were giving away plants, and I’m sure they will refund you. I understand that a large percentage of appeals of ANPR fines are successful.

I have appealed the notice and emailed homebase to tell them of the situation. Just waiting to hear back.

Fingers crossed!
