It feels very strange. When I go shopping there are very few people about. The buses are almost empty.
I can live with this. I have just had a cup of coffee and two biccies in my back garden.
My lawn is neatly trimmed. But I still need a haircut!
I still haven’t done the ironing! How can I possibly put it off any longer?
And they will deliver essential food items to you when they bring the ironing back.
Ha ha it’s a lovely thought. But I’m only not doing it because I’m lazy. I’m desperately trying to retain something of a work ethic so will do it myself (eventually!). I’m sure I’ll feel very virtuous afterwards.
I know this is hard on a lot of people but I am perfectly happy - (aside from the existential dread of the end of society as we know it and the untimely death of hundreds of thousands of people)…
I have work to do, a house to live in and a wife to share it with, food to eat, beer to drink and a garden to sit in. Plus I can ride my bike and I can go to my allotment so the actual affects on me are quite minimal.
The only major fly in my ointment is that I was planning to move out of the UK this year and had seen a nice place in Portugal - natch this is on hold now and we can’t even go for a second viewing. In the scheme of things this is pretty minor of course and the time will come when it is possible.
I am trying to help those that I can in small ways but personally I don’t need anything…
Thanks for asking though @Pauline !!
Happy to drop off food and toiletry essentials safely (possibly at weird times on doorsteps though to keep myself safe too) for anyone that needs them and can’t do it themselves or can’t afford them right now. I am happy to buy and wait for payment later if this is the case for anyone.- PM me if you need anything.
@Foresthillnick you done me a massive favor helping with a laptop for free when mine decided to go pear shaped during lock down which I really appreciate.
I feel so lucky right now because I have a garden that I can sit in, do a bit of gardening or just sit and read a book. It worries me that others in our community don’t.
I hope we can keep helping each other where we can right now, our community spirit is amazing in FH and I feel so lucky and humbled to be a part of it
Are you planning to take advantage of the Portuguese income tax concessions?
@Foresthillnick Or that it will be warm enough for you to grow your own wine?
Without taking this lovely thread off topic. I hope to earn no money to speak off aside from rent from our London house but we will take advantage of concessions on that for a year or so before selling up here and then never working again!
There’s loads of vines there and the area is known for it’s country vino, plus lemons, oranges, guava etc…
