Dangerous / Poor quality pavements?

I notice the white spray markings are back appearing on the pavements of SE23, so somewhere, someone is preparing another batch of cold lay tarmac to slap on some wonky paving stones, or bumps in the pavement.

It is nice to see that attention is paid, and that people do these walks regularly, but am somewhat perplexed by what warrants a little spray mark.

Over a year ago I reported the tree roots outside Andrew Court on Church Rise. They are huge and a serious trip hazard, but have never received any attention. One of the three trees was chopped down, but the remainder of its roots are still very raised.

I know there is no easy way out, I don’t want to see trees felled, but cant’ the pavement be made a little more usable for those pushing buggies or trolleys, or for the elderly or disabled?

That is my main gripe about the whole situation, but am still confused. If you walk along the pavement and see a white ring painted around a raised spot or a hole, I guarantee you will find 3 or 4 more identical to it, on the same pavement, which have gone unreported.

In short, it looks like someone just goes out and picks a few to repair badly, and leaves the rest. There are also other pavements which are repaired (badly) over and over. Why not just fix it properly once and for all? Some receive huge amounts of attention, others are just left.

Moan over. I have given up talking to Lewisham about it, and that is really not like me!

It would seem like the whole SE23 area is being blitzed with the white lines and dots - Codrington Hill and its surrounding area currently looks like another monochrome street art installation!

Hopefully the repairs this time round will be slightly better than last time, when I reported a pothole-cum-mineshaft on Fix My Street. A contractor turned up in a lorry, dumped a bucket of tarmac into the hole, drove over it twice in his lorry to tamp it down, and then drove off. The whole operation took about 5 minutes, and the repair lasted only slightly longer…

Sadly @HonorOakBloke, after watching the contractors going around this morning, its pretty much, slap it in, pack it down, move on, again! If these will eventually turn into proper repairs is another matter.

Seeing the temp repairs sprayed over again for another repair says to me something is going wrong somewhere, and more of these contractors need to have their work assessed. What is it with councils paying over and over for the same poor quality results?

Would be interested to know what the expected standards of these repairs are. Half the time they are more uneven than the original surface!
