Sad news from the South Norwood rescue centre that is leading the investigation to catch the “M25 Cat Killer,” along with the police and RSPCA.

A source on Twitter told me that this occurred in Wynell Road this morning.

We can all help by identifying and keeping an eye on local cats, and by keeping pets in the house overnight. Official advice from SNARL:

How confident are you it was a cat on Wynell Road (I live in this road)? Any idea of what it looked like so I can offer condolences?

I’ve got no reason to doubt the person that said it was Wynell Rd, but SNARL doesn’t announce roads so I can’t be absolutely sure.

This is horrible. Don’t know what I’d do if someone did this to one of my cats.

This is truly horrible. My lovely puss was maliciously killed through decapitation a number of years ago in Camberwell. It was truly horrible. This is why mine aren’t allowed to roam freely now.

That is really awful Jason, it must have been really hard to come to terms with (I don’t think I would ever come to terms with it).

Let’s hope this empty husk of a human being is identified soon and feels the eyes of millions of pet owners burning into his soul for the rest of his life.

OK, thanks. Was it a friend of yours? How did they know it was Wynell
Road? Did they find the cat? Friends with someone at the vets? Any details
would comfort me.

Their Twitter account is private so I can’t point you to the tweet unfortunately, and I know this person is quite careful with privacy so I won’t screenshot the tweet - but I believe it was in the SE23 Mums Facebook group that the link was made with Wynell Road. Again, I can’t be more specific as I don’t have access to SE23 Mums.

OK, thanks Chris

Thanks Chris. It was. At the time there was a suggestion it may have been related to activity by one of the area African churches, or more likely a member… As my puss was a black cat.

I think that is very remote given the different cats killed and the very wide variety of types of cat.

In this circumstance highly unlikely, yes.

I can confirm that the cat was discovered on Wynell Rd, on the corner near Sydenham Garden and the bowling club.

SNARL have informed us that it’s not unusual for the killer to return to the scene of the crime and leave the piece of the cat they’ve removed as some kind of trophy.

If anyone sees anyone acting suspiciously in the area outside Sydenham Garden, please call the Police immediately.

Oh Dear. I’m so sorry to hear this happened and just across from our gates. Our caretaker and the bowling club
groundsman both saw the cat and said it looked like it had been run over.

Best Wishes to all, and condolences to the owner
