Stolen bike

Hi all. Sadly my bike was stolen last night from a communal hallway (locked but only to itself as it was inside). It seems that there has been a lot of bike theft recently with a couple of bikes stolen from the racks outside my building a few weeks ago (hence why I had moved mine inside).

Just to ask this group that if they spot a white Cannondale Synapse (Road bike - White frame red writing) abandoned anywhere to please let me know… long shot I know. My only hope it that they were unable to get the D-Lock off so abandoned it but I’m sure they snipped through it later in no time.

Thanks all, to all bike owners I would strongly recommend keeping your bike well out of sight if it isn’t already, it seems thieves will stop at nothing.

Sorry to hear that - mildly infuriating.

Do you have the frame number?

Also check Gumtree and Facebook marketplace to see if someone lists it.

Good luck.

Thanks clausy, I will definitely keep an eye on gumtree/ eBay/ Facebook market place.

Unfortunately I don’t have the frame number, photo of the bike (with its wheels off at the time) below for anyone who spots anything that fits the bill.

Posted this in the other chat, made by a mate (who also made stolen-bikes.co.uk) but it will search all the online marketplaces for you:

Good luck

OK well, with hindsight, sorry, next time try to flip it over and take a pic of the frame number usually under the crank case. Also the Met will register it with BikeRegister for free if you can find them around - they often camp out outside Peckham Library as the old canal is a busy cycle route.

Thanks @anonSE23 - I’ve subscribed to an email alert on that site.

Also thank you @clausy again! Your mention of BikeRegister made me realise that I did indeed register it with the Met years ago and have managed to get onto my account to report it stolen. (Frame number is IM34739). I’m still not holding out much hope but appreciate the assistance and nice to know that for every scumbag out there stealing bikes there are far more good people who want to help.

Excellent! Having the frame number and BikeRegister should at least be a deterrent and any half serious buyer should be checking that.
