Curiously Lewisham currently has one of the lowest Covid rates in London, but more testing can only be a good thing:
We could be all asymptomatic and not showing symptoms so don’t bother to get tested hence the low rates.
Hopefully everyone will get tested at some point whether they feel ill or not.
That is curious. 24 out of 33 London Boroughs are on the list though, so perhaps it is more curious that Havering, Ealing, Hillingdon are not.
I guess mass testing would certainly pick this up, and then massively help put down the virus by isolating these previously unknown cases.
But I do wonder if mass testing could then lead to mass self-isolation, and assuming we’d want to test key workers and front line staff first, that could be very very disruptive for a few weeks.
Perhaps this is why there are talked about plans to reduce the self-isolation period to seven days.
Still, we can’t fight what we don’t know, so I definitely welcome mass testing.
That last sentence hits the nail on the head IMO
