Hi Sue

I walk a dog once a week through The Cinnamon Trust. It’s a charity that helps people who are no longer able to walk their dogs find people who can assit. Typically these will be elderly people or people with temporary or permanment medical conditions that prevent them walking their dogs. I believe they also do fostering, but it’s not something I can do so I didn’t look into that.

You’d need a few referenes etc as some of the people will be vulnerable.

It took 2-3 months post registering to be matched with someone. The dog I walk is elderly and has mobility issues itself so it’s actually quite physically demanding as you have to hold the dog up partially with a special harness, though I suspect this is not always the case. The lady whose dog it is, is in her 80s and the nice thing about this is it means she gets contact with multiple people (I believe 3 of us volunteer) which aids the safeguarding and well as giving the lady someone to talk to (and me).

A more common one might be borrowmydoggy which my sister-in-law has used quite a bit in the past.

Good luck!

To be clear the dog I am walking does not need any more walkers at the moment, but you could register and see what comes up.

I thought borrowmydoggy had a free tier, but I might be wrong.

Either way, good luck!
