Final weekend before the madness returns

How are you using your?
With the schools about to go back, travel times, daily commutes, and daily to do lists are about to explode back into full on.
For those without kids it signals the return of the holiday season, I know I’m going away soon. For those with kids it’s time to leave for work earlier, sort kiddies for school etc each day.

Whatever your position, if you travel in the mornings or evening, the transport system is about to return to normal capacities and become full of doom, gloom, and over capacity.

Make the most of this weekend, preparing for battle with your fellow members of the human race.

The roads were hotting last week and next week will be a return to full madness. Those of us who have taken up cycling over the last could of months might have a shock tomorrow morning!

Keep your wits about you and you will me fine Nick. Well as fine as life let’s us be.
6 weeks off, pfft, should be well rested by now. Suck it up!

I am sure I’ll be fine as I’ve been riding for years - should have said “those of you” - but it is always a shock when the summer ends and the roads are chocker again.

I work in a school and all our teachers came back last week - natch they we’re all moaning within a couple of days after having had 7 weeks off. After the summer I had they got mo sympathy from me!

I have decided to work from home for the foreseeable future so bring it on!

The impending Tower Bridge closure will add to the madness, the suggested diversion routes don’t look that great and the traffic is going to be a nightmare.

Sure isn’t going to be pretty, and will cause nightmares for me at work, but hey, I love a challenge! Hopefully it won’t be too bad once people adjust.

And it is raining to make it even more fun - oh well off up Sydenham Hill!

Sad to see the summer pass. Having just weathered A-levels for the eldest, the younger Dunlop offspring is doing GCSEs this year. I could rant at length about how toxic our education system is to our children’s mental health, but will spare you all.

The dog was most disgruntled at being woken at 6:30 this morning. I was barely more gruntled than he.

Sounds like everyone is in high spirits, and raring to go. Just like me…

Good luck to everyone who either has kids or works with them.

I was going to go for a ride this morning @Foresthillnick then I saw the weather and went back to bed lol

Yup - as a newly reintroduced member of the cycle commuter club, it was a bit of a wake up call to ride among the extra traffic on the roads this morning - and that’s even after leaving 20 mins earlier that normal. Although it wasn’t as shocking as how a slight drizzle builds up after an 8 mile cycle to feeling like sitting in a bucket of ice water. :cold_sweat:

Today’s lunch time job is to find some better weather appropriate cycling gear.

Eeew, one of the less rewarding parts of cycling to work. I shall drive the Smart and feel smart lol. Gutted I couldn’t ride this morning though.

Got to work at 8 and was totally overwhelmed by work and it wasn’t till gone ten that I remembered to change out of my shorts - I may go rusty around the unmentionables…

As someone who works at a school I see it first hand - we now have two counselors plus two chaplains and we run mental health awareness courses for staff. We have pupils in yr 7 worrying about GCSEs and A levels because they have to get good grades to go to the best Uni…

Still at least we run a cycling club so some get to peddle the frustrations out in the velodrome!
