The mods here at SE23.life are a small team of regular users who dedicate some of their own time towards the moderation of the posts in this forum. It has come to our attention that there are times when we need to make a clear distinction between our posts as mods and our personal posts as users. Concerns have been raised by various members in recent conversations which have highlighted the issue for us.
As a result, we have been giving serious thought to how to deal with situations where the mods themselves need modding. One issue is that as regular users with a bit of extra power, sometimes our own personal opinions have been interpreted as the standpoint of the forum as a whole. This is not and never has been the ethos of the forum. Nor should the mods ever use their status as such to throw their weight around in a heated debate. Users need to know they have recourse to other members of the forum team if such situations occur.
To make things clearer, the moderators of the forum will now post from their separate mod accounts when making a statement in an official capacity. These mod avatars have yellow rings around them and the user name will have the suffix ‘Mod’. Any post made by any of the team from their own personal user account is NOT the stance of the forum, but of that person alone.
Whether posting in a personal capacity or as mods, the forum team are obliged to follow all the forum rules and guidelines, just like any other user. Please contact any other member of the mod team if you have cause for concern or complaint about a team member. We are committed to acting fairly and objectively at all times, and will take any concerns about a member of the team seriously.
The current forum team is:

@RachaelDunlop_Mod

To get our attention simply mention @moderators in your post, or send a private message to @moderators.
We hope the changes to the mod accounts and the clarification of our policy on policing ourselves is helpful for all our members. Our virtual door is always open.
