I still miss the old St David
They did lovely all day breakfast options and £4 for toast and butter with jam??
Count us out

I must confess that my experience of the ‘old’ St David was good food and good coffee, but in an environment which could border on not being particularly friendly or clean.

Since Browns took over I’ve thought the staff have been fantastic and the quality of the coffee has continued to be high, so personally I’m looking forward to giving the new menu a go!

I miss Sian and the gang, but I also really like the super-friendly new team.

I think it’s a bit unfair to dismiss it out of hand before giving it a try. And the pricing comment is a little unfair too – price-wise the menu is completely comparable to the previous crew’s (which in December 2019 ranged from £3.50, funnily enough for toast and jam, and £8). It’s a difference of 50p at the lower end, which I’m not going to begrudge them after they’ve been so long operating under impossible post-lockdown/distanced conditions – still with smiles on faces, and all the while building great rapport with their customers. Once people can actually go in and stay in for longer than it takes to buy a coffee, the atmosphere will only liven up and the charm of the place can be fully restored.

Can’t wait to get down there and ACTUALLY SIT DOWN  I hope they continue to go from strength to strength.

Funnily enough we always found the old team really friendly and never noticed any cleanliness issues.
Ok sometimes tables weren’t cleared swiftly but I would never call it grubby.
We’ll give the 'Browns/St Davids a try at some point but I’m gutted that they only have sausages but no Bacon

Good amount of sausage in the sausage sandwich and the scotch bonnet chutney went well with the fried egg too. Yummy!

Downstairs at St D now boasts a cosy roaring fire. Can also confirm from a weekend visit that as expected, breakfast is delicious. Looking forward to working my way through that menu.
