Sadly The Young Lewisham Project was broken into earlier this week and and a lot of our valuable tools that we rely on to run our workshops to help young people in the borough were stolen. They also stole three motorbikes, two of which actually belonged to our staff who volunteer here, giving hours of their own time to keep the project going.
As some of you may know Young Lewisham lost it’s entire funding from Lewisham Borough Council last year and we now rely on funding from Trusts and Foundations. This funding barely covers our costs and so this theft is a huge blow.
YOU CAN HELP!
-
If you know of anyone suddenly selling a motorbike or have suddenly acquired new tools either let us know or contact the police! We just want our stuff back.
-
We had most of our tools stolen - including a very expensive air impact gun. We will need to replace all
of these and although we do have insurance we also have an excess that will take up much needed funds from elsewhere. So if you’ve got any spare change or some tools you no longer need or use we would be most grateful if you would donate them to us!
The Young Lewisham Project will get through this, we will continue what we are doing, but any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated. We are in the process of setting up a new website that will include a way to donate but in the meantime if you would like to help us, please either give us a call on: 020 8291 9771 or drop us an email at: info@younglewisham.org.uk or send us a message on Facebook.
