Ms Anne Maple of Lewisham — my new poster girl for free speech

Certainly don’t agree with any fox feeding antics, but getting an ASBO from Lewisham Council for putting A Tory election poster in her window? This stinks.

I did wonder why there were so many Remain posters in windows but not a single Leave poster (despite a third of Lewisham residents wanting to leave the EU). I wonder if Anne is not the only one who received a letter from the council?

I would say ‘i don’t believe it’ but sadly in our cotton wool age, I do.

She was never accused of this. She received a general notice to residents in the area noting someone had been feeding foxes and outlining the problems this could create. Yet somehow she has and/or the right wing media has reported she was…

told her off for feeding foxes after a complaint was received.

Don’t get me wrong. If she actually received a notice pertaining specifically to political notices, then I’ll be right up front with you on this matter. But I doubt this is the whole story. And I have doubts with reports from right wing media who in introductions lead readers to believe poor Ms. Maple received 8 ASBOS (she hasn’t received any) the most recent for this activity (ASBOS were replaced with injunctions and criminal behaviour orders almost 3 years ago).

Is Metro “right wing media”?

When it originates from a Rod Liddle oped then I’d suggest you take it with a grain of salt and use an appropriate lens to look at these facts. Before I’m accused by @anon5422159 of leftist bias I’ll add I do the same with columnists from the opposite end of the spectrum such as Owen Jones.
