3 way traffic lights have appeared today at the junction of Waldram Park Road and Sunderland Rd and the pavement closed from around 16 Sunderland Road (where Elachi used to be). It looks like it’s Thames Water works again!
There are works on the railway bridge, also using temporary lights to reduce the South Circular to one lane, and leading to tailbacks:
It’s almost like they didn’t think about coordinating the lane closures and consider the knock on impact. Weird.
I suspect the Thames Water issue on the Sunderland Road part of the South Circular wasn’t planned, as I didn’t notice any work going on there when I went out on Friday afternoon! Working on the railway bridge today would have been planned to fit as with engineering work taking place on the line today there are no trains running.
I imagine so, I’ve seen Thames water and The gas company turn up randomly on the south circular saying it’s emergency works fairly often. It’s usually not, just an excuse to fit it in when they want.
