My family have lived here for 75 years, beat that!
How long have you lived in Forest Hill?
Nowhere near that! We moved here in December 1999.
76 years. I’d heard the area was “up and coming” from a friend. I popped over from Clapham on my pony and immediately fell in love with the area.
Blimey, only since 2001, I feel like a young’un!

One year and two days!!!
Quite a wait!
Wot @Bolgerp said. Wot a coincidence.
Bout 17 years for me now
2005 for us. Wish we’s done it sooner, and not just for the lower house prices!
Newbie end of 2012 but love It!
Honor Oaker since 2013 and (especially since starting this forum), feeling right at home. I can see why people would spend their entire lives here - it’s a cracking part of London.
'>30 years
35.years
Thirty-six years - and five years in Ladywell before that.
To my eternal shame I have never lived in Forest Hill, although my dad did for a while back in the early 80s.
Doesn’t make you a bad person.
My grandparents moved here over 100 years ago. Although I think back then it was part of Sydenham and actually in Kent!
36 years for me
We moved in on New Years Eve 1994 so it’s been just over 22 years for me/mine
God. There are some really old people on here. Bet there’s a cool young gang over on TOSS.
2 years and 11 months. I remember the good old days of, erm… the Signal not looking so nice, no Bona and a Council run library.
Since 2012. First came here in 2010 or thereabouts to visit the Horniman, then when we were looking for places to buy a flat we remembered it as somewhere that seemed pretty decent for the (then) price. Times and values change and if we were first time buyers today we probably couldn’t afford SE23! I have no family heritage in this postcode although my father did grow up in Herne Hill SE24 and I have childhood memories of going to Dulwich and Crystal Palace parks on visits to my grandparents (they eventually moved out of London in 1995 when I was 14)
We would love a Council Run library, but due to circumstances we stepped in. Doing our best, but not our first choice & blimey we didnt want to take this workload on but have & doing our best
I moved into Bovill Road in 1984 It was lovely then, and it’s lovely now
Coming up 6768 days now.
born here on 15/10/1998?
Clever clogs
I’ve been an expat in London longer than that
Moved here in 2012 from Hackney after attending a conference at the Horniman. Got off the train, looked around, fell in love. Heartbroken that we’re still renting though. Got here a year too late to catch the housing market, but we’ve rooted anyway. It’s something in the air, in the water, in the community piano and the smooth cobbles outside the Signal. Last month I made my first ever jam from a neighbour’s greengages.I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
I love your thinking ️
Since 1984, Travis Perkins is now on top of my first place! Mind you they do have better functioning toilets than we had!
I can see we have a wayyyy to go! Moved in 24 days ago! It was a snap decision, love at first sight. We keep going around still not quite believing how beautiful it is here. Being like ‘Where’s the catch?’
My parents moved here because they couldn’t afford a house in Highbury where we came from in 1949 when I was 2 (same even then!); I moved to Croydon when I got married in 1971, decided I didn’t like it there so moved back in 1974 and been here ever since.
