Cycling routes from SE23

Hello! I would be interested to ask about people’s preferred cycling routes from SE23 - whether it’s a commute or for fun.

I’m pretty new to the area and have just figured out a nice route (with seemingly zero hairy moments) to Somerset House which is basically Peckham Rye - off road to Burgess Park - up Southwark Bridge Road - Blackfriars cycle super highway - but wouldn’t mind extending it a bit now the weather is nice!

I’m not a very exciting cyclist but if anybody wants to compare local-ish routes I’d be keen to follow some SE23 folks on Strava if people fancied linking to their profiles!

Hi @Angharad_Cooper - good idea for a topic.

I’d recommend you opt in to our Cyclists group (see Groups page). Once opted in, check out the #fitness-health:cycling category to see all our topics on cycling.

The official SE23.life Strava Club, started by @anon64893700, is a great way to find out what local cyclists are up to, and the routes they take.

I quite frequently take the longer route to work. Forest Hill to Bermondsey, via places like Beckenham, Blackheath, and occasionally via Clapham and across the bridges.

Loads of fun extensions you can add to your commute, just depends what your legs allow. Most of my routes are on my Strava account.

Same here - I only work three miles way but I sometimes do 20 miles rides.taking in the local hills and sights - mainly on quieter roads. Join us on Strava and follow us to see our routes!

If you want a club, Penge CC has rides ranging from ‘Steady’ to ‘Fast Long’, starting from SE20 Cycles, Penge High Street, starting at 8.00 Sunday mornings

The club also has Breeze – bike rides for women

To support beginners, we are hosting a series of back to basics road rides, through the Breeze network. These rides will be on quieter roads and around 10 miles in length.
