Recommendations for Hanoi and Ha Long?

I’ve booked myself a holiday with my parents to Hanoi and Ha Long Bay soonish. I’m sorted on accommodation and transfers, but looking for recommendations for day trips suitable for two oldies and a crippo, restaurants, that sort of thing.

Given the debate about correct flour ratios for banh mi, I’m hoping a few locals have been Vietnam way and can advise.
