"Railway Garden Opening 12th August
The Crofton Park Railway Garden will be open on Saturday August 12th for a volunteer open day.
Feel free to drop in anytime between 9.30am to 12 midday to do some gardening. We will be:
- Finishing installing the planters
- Clearning the beds and sowing some seeds
- Clearing the orchard area
- Many other general tidy up and planting tasks
Location: Entrance on Marnock Road, behind Terry’s All Locks
Time: 9.30am to 12 noon
We still have strawberry and berry plants, among others, to take away for free (although donations welcome and do go towards the clearance and future plans for the site).
Design of the Garden
Come by also to find out about the plans and contribute your ideas to tell us what you’d like to see at the garden in the future. We’ve been working behind the scenes to secure funding and help with designing the garden. We’ve just completed a topo-survey and we’ve secured some support to design the space, which we hope will be out by mid September. Ideas from previous conversations will be fed in, so do come to contribute yours.
The design will hopefully give us an indication of the cost to improve the site, which needs a lot of work to make it beautiful, safer, cleaner and more accessible for more people in the neighbourhood to enjoy. Once we have the design and indicative cost, we will then seek to apply to bigger funding pots to make it happen, and potentially start a fund-raising campaign.
Hope to see you on Saturday. Be part of the transformation!
