The School of Rhythm has been established in the Forest Hill-Sydenham-Penge area since 2000.
It delivers professional drum tuition to students from 5 to 75.
Initially and for 12 years located in Forest Hill, we have been teaching 55 students of all levels weekly in our main Penge studio for the last 3 years - 50% children and 50% adults (20% females). We of course prepare students to the Trinity College and Rockschool grades (which for children count toward their GCSes and A levels). For those who wish to take this route, our success rate is 100% mostly with merit or distinction.
After a long search we have acquired a second studio which from October 1st will permit us to open a whole new schedule to aspiring drummers - 7 days a week 10am till 10pm. Classes and are one-to-one or by Groups of 2.
Our teachers are all active established professionals who teach all styles of music from jazz to heavy metal via hip-hop, pop, rock, motown, latin etc as well as music notation (sight reading). You can enrol to play just for fun or to become a pro!
The benefits for children are immense - co-ordination, discipline, focus, self-esteem, assertiveness…
