UBREW - Live Extract Brew Demonstration

Clapton Craft Forest Hill and UBREW invite newcomers, professional home-brewers and the general public to watch a FREE live extract brew demonstration take place in-store this Saturday from 1:00pm. Pop-in and watch the UBREW team take you through step-by-step and answer any questions you might have about the process on the day.

What is ‘extract brewing’?

Extract brewing is the form of brewing used by most new brewers. Extract brewing involves the use of concentrated Malt Extract in the brewing process. The use of malt extract lets the brewer skip the mashing process, and move directly to the boil and fermentation steps. Extract brewing takes considerably less time and equipment than All Grain brewing. In extract brewing, Malt Extract is added directly to the brew pot and boiled together with Hops to create a sweet liquid called wort for fermenting. You can make very high quality beer using extract brewing, but don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself.

And, for all you Imperial Porter fans out there, we’ve got something extra special for you! From my own personal collection of dark beers - some of which now rare and hard to find - I’ll be bringing in a bottle of something very special brewed in collaboration with Siren and a certain Scandinavian brewery (the beer begins with L) 1 bottle only which is sure to go quick so check back around 5:00pm tomorrow to find out what it is.

Have a nice weekend and we hope to see you all very soon.

Cheers,

Hi Jon, no problem. Hopefully we’ll see you tomorrow for the demonstration with UBREW. Would these flyers be for Brew Con by any chance? We’ve got flyers for that particular event already, but always happy to take on a few more as a top-up or maybe this is a different home brew festival? If so, then I’m always happy to take on a handful of em’

UPDATE (17:10) - We’re running a little late today due to traffic. Coming into the city so Dominic should be in around 17:45pm. Apologies for the hold-up there folks.

We’re putting the finishing touches on tonight’s beer tasting with Siren Craft Brew. We can’t wait to have Dominic in-store and hope to see plenty of locals passing by on their way home.

Cheers,

Clapton Craft (Ben)

In just a few minutes I’ll be opening up that bottle of rare porter I’d wrote about yesterday - ‘Lorelei’, an Imperial Maple Toast Porter brewed in collaboration between Siren Craft Brew and Omnipollo from my own personal collection. Be quick, it’s sure to go soon!

! Emergency update !

Due to an unforeseen emergency late last night with one of the UBREW team - the host of today’s live brew - we’ve had to postpone today’s event. We’re working hard to reschedule with UBREW as there’s been a lot of excitement and chat throughout the last couple of days and following a great ‘meet the brewer’ last night we were hoping to keep the good energy going well into the weekend.

That said, this doesn’t stop us being open today (11:00 - 21:00). The shelves are packed with delicious beer, what’s on tap is looking great and as way of apology we’ll be opening a couple extra tasting bottles today.

Again, we’re very sorry for the sudden postponing of today’s event. Do pop in and we’ll be sure to talk your ears of about all things beer :+1:

Cheers,

Clapton Craft (Ben)
