Forest Hill Station new waiting room

Just using the train this morning and thought I would take advantage of the lovely new waiting room further up platform one.
Peaceful, protected from the elements, and plenty of seating. Also very handily, the new 5th carriage of the Overground trains stops almost outside, so no running down the platform when the train comes in.
Heating too, very nice.
It is a little hidden away, and not much attention is drawn to it other than the new benches outside and further up the platform, gently persuading you towards the area.

Much needed addition, and enjoyed my few minutes in there.

Wow, looks really nice - wish we had one of those in Honor Oak Park!

Makes a change for Forest Hill to have something nice. Now to see if it will stay that way once discovered.

Still have the madness of the arrivals board being impossible to see, especially from there, though!?

However, the room looks nice and the morning I use the station I will most certainly make use of this

It really should have been further up the platform where the current shelter is, which everyone uses.

There is an arrivals / departure board in the waiting room at the end. Just not very clear in the pic as I didn’t have time to get a snap of it.
Damn punctual trains, I will complain!

I think its location is intended to spread the passenger waiting areas out a bit more.
With longer Overground trains now reaching that far up, there is no need for passengers to bunch dangerously in one spot to jostle for position any more.

I think it is likely to be well positioned once London Bridge station has new interchange options at this end of the trains. That will take place in August and I can’t wait.

From the pictures it looks like they have echoed the aesthetic of an Overground carriage - a lovely bit of design.

Very much so, those pictures were going to be my next ones if the pesky train had not shown up.
It does very much echo the design keys of a carriage. Even to the point where there is opitional “prop up” seating to lean against, rather than fully seated.

Can we have another for Platform 2 please? You’re more likely to be waiting for ages on that platform considering trains go to Caterham and Victoria every 30 mins and West Croydon every 15.

Probably one in the pipeline somewhere. Maybe once the works are finished expanding the gates there.

I’ve finally visited the waiting room today. Very cosy!

The downside being, all that fresh air and space, makes you kinda reluctant to leave it to get on a peak time cramped train haha.
