Keeping this to a limited audience in the #streetscape:fh-mural category for now:
I have spoken on the phone to @Lionel and here are some of the things we discussed:
- location: I think we’ve settled on the railway bridge as per forum conversation. I will send a square-on picture of the site to Lionel so he’s able to use it in the mock up
- maintenance Lionel has offered six months of free maintenance eg removing any tags that appear over the artwork.
- protective coating: the protective coating (to make it harder for tags to “stick” to the surface of the artwork) will cost roughly £100 but Lionel pointed out that this makes the surface more susceptible to dirt, and so may require more regular maintaining. It will also make it harder to repaint the artwork in future. We may skip the protective coating for these reasons
- cost: Lionel has kindly reduced his quote to £2000 as he has an established pattern for these artworks now
- colours: Lionel will mock up at least two different colour schemes which we can put to the vote on the main forum
- timeframe: winter is problematic for paint drying time. Lionel has suggested we schedule the work for March, when it’s warmer. Plenty of time for the crowdfunder to run
