Burglary and car stolen

My flat on Siddons Road was broken into yesterday and they got my car keys and my car along with other items of value.

The police said there were a few break-ins in the area yesterday that were likely the work of the same person(s).

A reminder to keep your car keys hidden or to take them with you when out at work! The police response was rapid and both them and the forensic guys were great, however I do not hold much hope of recovering the car or contents of my flat. On the off chance someone might see it, the car is a blue BMW registration number HV64 NDU.

Hopefully this is not the start of a pick-up in crime in the area; I’ve lived here for 6 years and aside from a minor shed theft have not had any issues.

Sorry to hear that, AB. What time was it broken into?

I posted this on the Trilby Muggings thread an hour ago, but think it should go here as well given it’s an attempted break-in.

Just heard from my neighbour on Como Road that they had the sizeable padlock on their side gate cut-off with bolt cutters on Tuesday night. The house wasn’t broken into - it could be whoever it was heard my dog going nuts, which she did at one point that night, and decided to leave.

Might well be the same guys, so worth being extra vigilant re window and door locks etc. at this time and especially in the run up to Christmas.

Hi Mac_SE23,

I am sorry to hear about your own experience - I use the cut-through frequently and reading about what happened to you is shocking.

The police thought that the break-ins mostly likely happened in the late afternoon or early evening.
