I expect there will be a lot of Canary Wharf commutes using this line. It will be interesting to see to what extent this relieves congestion at Canada Water.
I got a behind the scenes tour at Farringdon Station a few weeks ago. The station is massive! While it may be called Farringdon the other end of the platform is in Barbican.
While not directly affecting Forest Hill, it’s almost certainly going to relieve Canada Water of some peak congestion, instead staying on the train to Whitechapel to get into Central London.
Canada Water getting on the Jubilee should be easier. But I think it will make the Overground worse. Any improvement to any train line just attracts more people to the area. People will see Whitechapel to/from Crossrail as more of a reason to relocate down here
I suspect passengers from the south including us will continue to use Canada Water for Canary Wharf, where I’d expect a cut in passengers is from Highbury & Islington down to Whitechapel who’ll change for Elizabeth line/Crossrail.
As for Central London, Canada Water will benefit from less passengers crowding down on the single escalator down from the Northbound platform with passengers more evenly split between CW and Whitechapel to get into Central or East London.
