Jehova’s Witnesses Door to Door Today

If you get an unsolicited knock on the door in Honor Oak today it may well be Jehova’s Witnesses.

I’m usually up for a friendly discussion on religion but I politely asked them to stop calling around on both their last two visits. I don’t want my home disturbed on weekends by any unsolicited callers.

When they disturbed me this morning (the third visit) I gave them a piece of my mind.

I made it clear that they are selling door-to-door because their organisation relies on the wealth of its members and that their product (my protection when “Armageddon” comes) is a manipulative tool that exploits fear and that serves no one’s needs but their own.

If you see them, I’d suggest the following conversation starters:

  • Why is the Jehova’s Witness organisation under investigation by the Charities Commission?
  • Why is JW hurriedly selling off its vast U.K. property assets?
  • What are your thoughts on the handling of the serious sexual abuse investigations within the JW organisation?

I think I said on another thread that they once caught me at a bad moment (most likely a hungover Sunday!) and I was excessively rude and did my best angry atheist impression (not that hard TBH).
They now have me on a blacklist - they go right past my house every time.

Being as the subject of them being investigated has been brought up, has anyone read ‘ The children’s act’ by Ian McEwan? It’s based on a true story & made me very angry when I read it, in that as with a few religions people & in this case a young man suffered because of parents strong beliefs.
