Overground closing early tonight, reduced service tomorrow (Feb 27th)

Just got a service email from Overground saying services are finishing at 22.15pm tonight with a later start tomorrow, There is a reduced service on some lines tomorrow, although it looks like our branch is planned to run as normal. This is apparently to let the Network Rail de-icing trains on to the lines.

Looking sketchy, but there are some trains running. Good luck, fellow commuters!

I got in a train to London Bridge and will continue from there as Overground looked doubtful. Trains look like they are running from New Cross so you could also get an LB train, get off at New Cross Gate and walk to New Cross if you really need the Overground. Or get a bus!

I am compelled to hijack this thread for a very brief moment to give a big shout out to 2 of SE23.Life’s most helpful posters.

Big thanks to @Joey_H and @rbmartin for the time they spend giving us detailed information and insights as to what’s going on with the trains.

Nice one chaps!

Managed to get in to work fine this morning. For some reason the 06.45 FOH to LBG was “delayed” and I don’t know if it ever actually showed up. Got on the 06.54 instead to LBG which was busier than usual, understandably. But I did note the Overground seemed to have issues.

HOP station: Last London Bridge train to arrive was chocka - queues of people left waiting for the next:

Seems Southern’s website has crashed…

I was a bit puzzled by this. Couldn’t get on Southern because it was 5-car only and rammed, then made a last minute escape from the Overground at Surrey Quays when the driver announced that they wouldn’t stop at Canada Water. At Canada Water crowd control in place with the library entrance shut and queues to get through the ticket barriers, just to find a less busy than usual Jubilee line platform and a near empty train - bizarre. Still, it took me 45 minutes to get to London Bridge.
