I know you can’t just tell businesses to relocate, I realise that it is not always easy to start over at a new location, but I can’t help wondering the following. (I have mentioned similar before)
With locations like Malham Road estate, would it not be possible to take a location like the gas works in Sydenham, which can only be used for commercial or retail, develop it into a suitable new industrial estate and use the land in Malham Road for residential development?
There are numerous similar locations in and around town, in which 90% of the businesses do not offer a service counter or have customer facing facilities. Would it be plausible to consider that these could be relocated considerately, and free up more suitable land for much needed homes?
