Hi folks, I’m starting a new job soon, and the offices are near the Tottenham Court Road tube station. I know that CrossRail kicks in at the end of the year, but in the meantime the commute looks horrendous. Does anyone commute there (or nearby) and has tried every route imaginable and have any advice on which route is best, and maybe timings?

I do this exact commute everyday. I get a train to London bridge, switch platforms and get on a train to Charing X (they run about every 2 mins at peak) then walk up through Soho to TCR. I find it much more relaxing than getting the overground and jubilee line! Takes me about 45-50 mins door to door.
Oh that is the best news, and sounds absolutely ideal! If it’s tipping down, do you catch the northern line from Charing X?
There’s an escalator from the station concourse to the entrance of the Northern line. Just a 5 minutes transfer.
Thinking more of how horrible that branch of the Northern line is during rush hour (the one at London Bridge is so awful).
The Charing X branch of the Northern line is generally much less unpleasant than the Bank one! I’m not saying it’s nice, but it’s definitely better.
That’s very encouraging, and really cheers me up about the prospects of my new commute.

a 176 bus goes to tottenham court road
That bus must surely take two hours to get there during the day! I sometimes catch it from Waterloo at night and it seems to take forever.
+1 for Nomis’s suggested route. Really easy.
If you live on the on the east side of the tracks, you may find using the Charing X services from Catford Bridge even better, as it’s usually a few minutes quicker in terms of the core train journey time.
You can cycle it: should take just over 30 mins!
