W/henever it’s like this, I find myself reciting the old rhyme that was in a big book of illustrated nursery rhymes we used to read to the kids when they were little.
One misty misty morning, when cloudy was the weather
I chanced to meet an old man clothed all in leather,
He began to compliment and I began to grin,
How do you do, How do you do, How do you do again.
Does anyone else know that one ?
I know it from the Steeleye Span version (on the LP Parcel of Rogues) - if you’ve not heard it, well worth a listen.
Second verse goes -
I went a little further, and there I met a maid
Going a-milking, milking sir she said
And I began to compliment in hope her love to win
Singing how do you do, and how do you do, and how do you do again?
Cool. I will seek that one out. I have always liked Steeleye Span. I have the first two albums, but don’t know any of the others. Maddy Prior. A lovely lady with a lovely voice.
Just got back. Everyone sent home because the crane drivers can’t see at the big Bellway job in Lower Sydenham.
Does anyone like weather like this? I don’t. At least not today
