I thought I’d like to make you all aware of the following competition Arriva Rail London is about to run to engage with the local communities and schools. The winning design will be used as the annual Christmas card sent to all employees and also the winner will win a train simulator experience at Willesden Depot, (full realistic mockup used to train the drivers) for themselves and family.
As part of our community engagement programme, this year’s competition will be an opportunity for us to partner with a primary school in each of the three GM areas. We will ask Year 4 children from each school to draw and submit their designs in the theme of ‘what does London Overground mean to you’ for Arriva Rail London’s official Christmas card.
The competition will be launched by a member of the Arriva Rail London team - a driver or customer experience staff member and our community and stakeholder manager - at individual school visits in September, with the winning artist receiving a ‘train simulator experience’ for themselves and their family at the Willesden depot. Runners up will receive ‘goody bags’.
You can get involved by nominating local schools in each GM area who might like to get involved; it might be your child’s school or that of a family member, or the school you went to? Or it might be a school near to the station you work at, or one that you’ve visited as part of other community initiatives?
To nominate a school, send the name of the school and a paragraph that summarises why the school should be chosen before Friday 18 August to the following Christmas card champions:
So if you have a child in Year 4 or you are involved in your local school along the East London Line route, PM me your nomination and I will forward it on.
