At next week’s meeting we’ll be picking the book for June - we decided that the loose theme for June’s suggestions should be ‘books from countries we’ve never been to.’

If people have particular thoughts, suggest them below with a goodreads link and we can pick next week. Having trawled the web, a few suggestions to start us off below… Thanks!

Stay with Me by Ayobami Adebayo - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32969150-stay-with-me?from_search=true

The Leavers by Lisa Ko - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30753987-the-leavers?from_search=true

The Cockroach Dance by Meja Mwangi - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1395764.The_Cockroach_Dance

Hi
I’m looking forward to next meeting especially as I was unable to make the last one.
My suggestion for next book is:
A River in Darkness: One Man’s Escape from North Korea - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/34663135-a-river-in-darkness

Best

@book_club

Hi guys, sorry to be rubbish but I can’t make it tonight. The space is ‘booked’ at The Honor Oak so feel free to crack on without me; let me know what book you choose for next time and I’ll sort the venue as usual. See you in June… thanks!

Just back from a lovely evening chatting about fragile lives and many other books. Mixed reviews but generally positive and led onto several other discussions like how arrogant you want/need your surgeon to be.

Decision has been made for June’s book to be ‘Stay with me’ by Ayobami Adebayo. Set in 1980s Nigeria.
@natalieh101posted a link to goodreads further up in the thread. Could you please also do the usual honours of setting a date for June meet up.

The category for July book is Sci Fi as not a category any of us present usually read. When coming to June meet up please have a think about suggestions for this category :grin:

Sorry I missed out (DIY drama). I’ll set a date up for June and post a new event on the forum… June’s book looks great. Thanks, Natalie

It was one of your suggestions so thanks for providing. The 4 suggested in the thread were good options. Torn between this one and one about man escaping from North Korea.
