Hi All

We were very lucky to get some last minute left over funding from SEE3 & Lewisham Assembly Funding 2015 which was specifically to be spent on events surrounding the library & @V22_Louise_House by the end of this year.

This has nothing to do with the 5k we were awarded this year to be spent on kids literacy events by the end of next year.

So here’s the programme we put together in the space of a week so it could be included in advertising.

I will say a massive thank you to all involved for offering us this funding.

Saturday 3rd Dec - 1pm

Death or Ice Cream!

Award winning children’s author and regular festival performer (Latitude, Greenman, Wilderness), Gareth P Jones takes you on a deliciously sinister journey to the strange world of Larkin Mills, the setting of his book, Death or Ice Cream. Expect sinister songs, odd stories and jokes followed by ice cream sundaes inspired by the book, including the Trigger Finger of Fudge, the Banoffee Burial and Vanilla Vengeance.

Here’s some reviews for this book:

Sat 3rd Dec - 3pm

Gems Performing Arts Nativity (Goes Wrong!!!)

What happens when the local children of Forest Hill attempt to put on a nativity in their local library but the director is a bossy boots, the actors haven’t learnt their lines and the props are falling apart? The show must go on!
Join us 3pm outside Forest Hill library . Free!

ADD ON - FH soc will be turning on the Christmas tree lights at the station at 4pm followed by Christmas carols.

Friday 9th & Friday 16th Dec - 4pm

Christmas Craft Workshops

Kids come along and join the fun to make Christmas decorations for your library.

Saturday 17th December - Kids Christmas Fun Day at Forest Hill library & V22 Louise House

The Xmas Files with The Philosophy Foundation 11.30-12.30 & 1-2pm

Come and explore some philosophical thoughts around the festive season. Didn’t like the silly socks you got from Great Auntie Mable? You’ve always been told to tell the truth, what do you do now, upset Mable or lie? In a time of giving is it wrong to want to receive a gift? With climate change issues all around us, are Christmas cards a good idea?

Session 1
For young philosophers aged 6-9 years we’ll be taking a gentle think around Xmas thoughts with baubles and bells.

Session 2
For older philosophers aged 10-14 we’ll get stuck right into the turkey!

Kids Christmas Fun Day @V22_Louise_House - Saturday 17th Dec - 2-4pm

Come and join the free Christmas fun with singing, dancing & games with @GemsPerformingArts plus face painting & glitter tattoos & party food!
