Historic Buildings

As always the Londonist has some great stuff. Today this appeared in my timeline allowing you to search the database of listed buildings anywhere in England. Some cool entries for SE23.

For instance, I’m sure many knew the Capitol was a Grade II listed building. But did you know the red telephone box almost outside the cinema is also a Grade II listed building? According to the database this is a K2.

Telephone Kiosk. 1927. Designed by Giles Gilbert Scott. Cast iron. Square Kiosk of K2 type with domed roof, perforated crowns to top panel and glazing bars to windows and door.

Interesting stuff - Id never noticed the postbox, but now we all know how special it is…

Pleasantly surprised to see this old wreck of a building at the junction of Lowther Hill and Brockley Rise is one of the very few listed buildings in HOP. I always peer in every time I walk past as it looks like a haunted house…

It’s been partly renovated and is up for sale. Looks like they have done a nice job.
