Does anyone know what the eventual outcome of the works on the London Overground, which seem to take it out of action one weekend every month or so, will actually be? And also does anyone know how long the periodic closures of the service will continue for?

Have a look on the TfL website. There’s a page devoted to the Overground improvements. Some of the work will be related to Crossrail as well. They also have a schedule of works going forward on there somewhere. If you get the weekly TfL email there is usually a link on there.

Geeky point but this is roughly where the Underground passes over the Overground.
