Make your own hatblock and complete a fascinator

AdultLearning
17 Jan '19

Create both a buckram hat block and complete a stylish fascinator trimmed with a hand-made rose or poppy fabric flower. You will firstly learn how to make a buckram (which is a professional Tailor’s stiffening medium) brim and/or crown block, which are a much cheaper alternative to traditional wooden blocks, and will enable you to make felt, straw or fabric hats in your own size at home (please note that to complete both blocks, you will be required to complete work outside of the lesson) You will also use traditional millinery materials and methods to make an organdie rose or poppy flower to trim a pre-prepared fascinator base - ensuring that you will be race-day or special event-ready for the late spring & summer seasons! No prior hatmaking experience necessary although some experience of hand sewing would be an advantage, but is not essential.
