Met Police now offering Twitter Alerts for critical incidents in London

Worth switching on, only takes a moment:

I think I’ll pass. Each to their own, of course, but I’m sure I’ll hear via retweets if anything serious is happening. I don’t want to hear alerts for things that don’t affect me. The 24 news / information culture is quite stressful enough as it is.

The Overground tweet-alert system bombarded me with so much information that wasn’t relevant to me that I started to ignore it and have since turned it off.
