Opening imminently, Brockley Rise’s new pizza place. Their website and menu looks quite artisanal:
Nonna Maria, 55 Brockley Rise [Now Open]
Menu looks very nice to me!
It looks like Nonna Maria is now ‘open’… just as we lock down
Their online menu and ordering system looks pretty comprehensive though, and their website says they deliver which is great:
Delivery available from 05:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Something to try later this weekend maybe.
We popped in last week and loved it, and the dessert special of the apple pie was Everything is made by them, pastas, desserts etc. They’re open for collections and looking forward to eating from them again.
The staff were absolutely lovely, wishing them all the best with starting out in the current climate.
Their ‘About Us’ statement has seriously got my attention - so I’ll be grabbing a takeaway for sure!
Welcome to Nonna Maria is an artisan neighbourhood restaurant based in Brokley Rise, using selected ingredients of the highest quality in a relaxed setting. We are baking artisans grown up in a Country side where everything was supplied from our farm. Following the tradition, our sourdough pizza and homemade dishes are freshly prepared every day with locally-seasonal sourced ingredients mixed with the best of Italian products. Our seasonal menu is made for you as our grandmother used to make for us.
Essentially, we want to bring back memories of that warm tingling feeling in your stomach you got as a child when your Nonna cooked you a delicious bowl of pasta after coming home from playing outside.
Yum! The food is delicious! I ordered a pizza, tagliatelle and chicken with porcini
Will definitely head back again!
We’re going to try it tomorrow night!
I can definitely recommend it. My partner ate in for lunch last week (pre lockdown) and loved it - great food and service in a lovely atmosphere. He brought me back a takeaway and it was equally as delicious.
I had the Cetara pizza (anchovies - proper ones, capers, chillies). Excellent. Also had the mixed vegetables/sundried tomato - lovely. Its really good to have a lockdown menu wider than just pizza.
I look forward to eating at Nonna Maria post lockddown. It will be interesting to compare properly against the Sicilian Art Pizza place in Penge (tiny, slow but very artisan Sicilian pizzas).
Head a takeaway tonight for the first time
Great food
Many of the team are from the Amalfi Coast, where we got married, so I am keen to share the love
Highly recommended!!
Scores on the doors (food hygiene) love it too: 5/5
Had pizza from here last night, really good, on a par with mama dough/bona but the real highlight is the nduja sauce. Started by dipping crusts, ended up dipping whole slices in it. Wild stuff
