Outdoor Gyms

Hi all, what is the situation with outdoor gyms in SE23? Southwark has over 20 of them, and Lewisham only has 3 (https://lewisham.gov.uk/inmyarea/openspaces/activities) and they seem to be located in random parks (Home Park, Mayow Park, Northbrook Park). With all the green space around here and especially with Coronavirus restrictions, surely this would be a good investment.

Although maybe all the hills around here are enough of a workout!

I think so. Ditch the treadmill and do some power walking up and down Canobie Road!

I live at the top of one of SE23’s more fearsome hills and I have noticed a definite improvement in my resting heart rate since moving here!

There are also a few outdoor gym bits in Wells Park (if you are more sydenham way). Only added a few months ago so council website perhaps bit out of date

And a few in Blythe Hill fields (pull up/dip bars) and Ladywell Fields too, the latter I think has bars on the side of the park near the hospital and machines on the other side of the railway track, closer to Blythe Hill.

There’s a reasonable list of some of the equipment (with pictures) here:

It mainly has pull up/dip bars and misses some of the other stuff, but it’s not a bad list.

Thanks, that’s helpful. I also checked The great outdoor gym company https://www.tgogc.com/find-a-gym and there is something in Cornmill Gardens near Lewisham station and again near Dulwich park, but still seems like nothing in SE23 for Honor Oak and Forest Hill.
