Planters in Perry Vale?

Hi All

There’s clearly a lot of interest in improving the amenity of Perry Vale.

One emerging idea is to install large juice barrel planters on the very wide pavement that runs along the railway line and there’s no reason why these couldn’t also be placed in appropriate spots on the other side of the road.

These planters have been used very successfully throughout Waterloo. You can see some of the planters there at this link: http://www.gomoodboard.com/boards/vCiiJd44/share2

The images below are ‘artists impressions’ designed to give you a sense of the vision we have for the site.

The installation of the planters would be compatible with an occasional market on the street - I love that suggestion - creating a much more welcoming area in general and on market days.

If successful the planters could be the first step in a larger scheme in which the planters could be installed throughout the town center.

As a first step in the process the Forest Hill Society have agreed to support a funding proposal to the Perry Vale Ward Assembly.

If you’re interested in helping to refine the concept and implement the project please do get in touch. You can email pv.pocketpark@gmail.com

Must say I love the impact they have had around Waterloo. Really changes the dynamic for the better.

Could work well along there too, as long as it doesn’t cause an obstruction for the blind souls stuck to their phones after getting off the train.

Local breweries who haven’t yet converted to recyclable plastic kegs or a more cost effective rental scheme may have some old metal kegs they’d be willing to sell if they haven’t already scraped them. Each one measures roughly H:36cm x W:40cm. They’re easily stackable which’ll give you some varied heights to play with. They look like this…

Thanks @ClaptonCraft. Will be sharing more information and looking for ideas and suggestion to the project with surrounding businesses, so looking forward to coming in to talk to you. I like the idea of trying to use the recycled beer kegs.
