Popped my head in at the station and could only see two trains scheduled to arrive across the entire board. Good luck guys.

Thanks for the tip off, Iā€™ve alerted OH who will now try to get home via DLR and bus from Lewisham. :crossed_fingers:

Am currently sat on a train waiting to depart LB, thatā€™s should have left a few minutes ago.

Assuming it actually leaves, it will be skipping everything between NXG and Sydenham due to adverse weather conditions.

anon30031319

Good luck, which one are you on? Do you know its time?

I think it was supposed to be the 16:27 to West Croydon? Donā€™t normally cone this way, so not 100% sure

anon30031319

Nothing worse than being on a strange train in conditions like this.
Just showing delayed at the moment isnā€™t it.

Service updates

  • This train has been delayed by a broken down train earlier today

I got the 14:55 back which net fast to sydenham due to a broken down train in Honor Oak after that they didnā€™t get further than new x gate

I have diverted to London Blackfriars and in theory there is a train 16.42 delayed to 16.53 which will get me to Crofton Park. For anyone else you can walk to HOP of course or get the 171 down, all the way down Brocket rise to the S Circular for anyone inFH where o ourselves you can walk and change for a 185 - good luck! . As an aside it is actually snowing on the platform

armadillo
2 Mar '18

Yup - it was the broken down train, they fixed it - put it back on the board - and have now marked it as delayed while they try to find someone to drive it :man_facepalming:

Thatā€™s the last time I run 2K through the snow to get a train :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

anon30031319
2 Mar '18

Not sure the 171 is running down there at the mo due to the closure of Brockley Rise at the South Circ

Iā€™m on a supposedly on time Victoria train at London Bridge, due to depart in a couple of minutes. West Croydon trains seem to be going out of service.

I got turfed out at NXG because of the broken train - 171/172 slow but running.

anon30031319

Just seen itā€™s cancelled!!

armadillo
2 Mar '18

snap!! They cancelled the West Croydon one I was on, so managed to dash across for the Victoria train - even lucked out with a seat ā€¦ andā€¦ yesā€™!! Itā€™s started moving!!!

Result ! Happy for you guys. Hope you get home soon.

Good point! Train just got in - rammed but itā€™s just left Blackfriars.

anon30031319
2 Mar '18

Just checked, still closed at St Germans, so 171 will still be on diversion.

Good luck people!

Oh wow, I just saw that there was a lack of later trains on the screens, and assumed the info was just not getting throughā€¦

Got to Crofton Park - for anyone in HOP or this side it could be better than London Bridge route if that all gets cancelled

As I was exiting FH heard them announce that the next Overground heading north was delayed 1h 40m!!

OH nearly home via DLR and 75 bus from Lewisham. Always a good option when ice is an issue as the DLR has heated rails.

Got my drive soon, yay!

Thanks @oakr - Iā€™m going to try walking over to Farringdon and heading to Croften Park.

Always burnt by London Bridge / Southern - at the best of times.

Thanks for kicking this discussion off Michael, as Iā€™d have waited another 20 minutes at work, and might well have missed the fact that trains werenā€™t operating out of Canada Water. Saved me a world of pain!

My pleasure.

If it has helped just one person (which it seems it has) then my job is done. Thank you for the thanks.

If anyone is in Bermondsey, New Cross and heading home I will be passing through in the car shortly

Took the 75 from Perry vale for my first visit to the greyhound in sydenham and all on time , certainly a good option if you near one

I was coming from Victoria so took the Tube to Brixton and got on a P4. I figured that buses are easier to get off if thereā€™s a problem and walk rather than trains. Good luck all.

Didnā€™t know that! They also have side pickup for the current which also helps.

Likewise, no only did I make it back okay (all things being said), but actually got home earlier than I would do normally - so arranged to meet the wife & kids at BOnA for a celebratory pizza!

Watching the live feeds and news tonight, I canā€™t believe how little common sense some people seem to have. Iā€™m not sure whether they usually manage to breeze through life or whether the cold and snow has induced brain freeze.

Overground still not running our wayā€¦

I just managed to get home on a London bridge train, this was around 8.15pm
Iā€™m working tomorrow and dreading journey in and back as there are no trains at all from FH.
Its hell living here and working weekends in the west end.
Bad enough that the stores close so late without this aggro.
Pity us poor shop workers!!!

anon30031319
2 Mar '18

Insane isnā€™t it. Iā€™m no fan of rail companies but SE really took a battering tonight. Feel for their social media team or person.

Dread to think of the cost for all the emergency services to attend like that. Hope a few arrests have been made at least.

anon30031319
2 Mar '18

Please DONT head to the stations tomorrow, until weā€™ve confirmed that your line is open. For those routes that remain closed, weā€™re not expecting to be able to provide much in the way of alternative transport, but again this will be confirmed overnight. https://t.co/dl4YinMGdJ

2 Mar '18

Good luck for tomorrow - I hope itā€™s not as bad as you fear.

It is nuts that people are expecting normal service from shops and other businesses in abnormal conditions. It puts undue pressure on employers and employees. In Scotland, some shops and gyms did close and then got slated on social media for inconveniencing customers. In the current retail climate, itā€™s tough for a store to close its doors.

maxrocks
2 Mar '18

Sadly customers expect 7 days a week shopping.
and in the west end where I work that means shops are open from 10am-9pm.
whatever the weather people expect to be able to wander round a shop even if they actually donā€™t want to buy anything!
I must say my managers are very good and understand if Iā€™m a bit late due to travel disruption
but it still makes it really painful having a 2 hour journey when the trains go wrong.
Sadly shopwork is not well paid so myself and those I work with all live zones 3-5 where the transport infastructure leaves us reliant on overground trains with no direct bus routes.

2 Mar '18

I could see the trains werenā€™t likely to be fun this evening so i got a couple of buses from Waterloo. Got home in about 45 minutes.
The nice thing about buses is if you get stuck you can always get out and walk.

Just packed somebold friends off on their way to LB. Trains still running now so quite impressed to be honest

anon30031319
3 Mar '18

Apparently you can do that with trains too now.
Seriously though, I do wonder how many people took the advice of the transport companies, and how many ignored it and got caught up in all this.

I like driving for the same reason. Worst case park up and walk.
