Think we’ve left it too late to cut the long grass in the garden!

Started strimming, and found the beginnings of a bumble bee nest. I’ve never seeen one before, so I’m quite excited. Just hope it doesn’t get too dry in this hot weather: it wasn’t covered at all, just nestled in a tuft of grass. The queen (?) bee crawls over it every minute or so, very defensively!

I didn’t think the Queen left the nest at all? Isn’t the bee inside & the workers only leave the nest if the Queen does (which is unusual?) could it be a wasps nest?
