What is TRAID?

I’ve had a couple of people ask me this following one of my posts. TRAID is a charity that particularly focuses on preventing usable clothing going to waste. Their aims are to:

  • Increase clothes reuse across the UK reducing waste, carbon emissions and consumption
  • Fund international development projects to improve conditions and working practices in the textile industry
  • Educate people of all ages about the impacts of textiles on the environment and people’s lives, and how we can make more sustainable choices

They take clothing in good condition, accessories like shoes, curtains etc (but not duvets or pillows). They also take small items like DVDs and books which they can re-sell.

The best bit for someone without a car like me is that they collect from your door. You can book a collection via http://www.traid.org.uk/.
