Gents Hairdresser Recommendations

I tend to travel to Beckenham to visit a hairdresser I’ve grown to trust. But I’d like to find something more local if possible.

Ideally somewhere charging ~£15 (not ~£30) for a trim.

I’d love to have hair that warranted £30 worth of chopping, but the capitalist grind has taken its toll on my follicles sadly (ever seen a bald hippy?)

Recommendations appreciated.

Can’t go wrong with Erdis.

Pop in to Rob on Dartmouth Road, opposite the swimming pool. One advantage is that he opens at 7am Tuesday to Friday, which is the most convenient time for me and my hippy locks.

(actually the 1990s were the best time for my hippy locks, but I’ll refrain from blaming the capitalist system for making my head a shining example of hirsute austerity)

For those who live on my side of the tracks, I’d recommend John’s Barbers https://www.facebook.com/Johns-Barbers-Sydenham-1414541852120489/

+1 for Rob on Dartmouth Road he does a good job and if there is something going on in SE23, he knows about it! I go all the way across SE23 to visit him.

I knew you were left-leaning but I didn’t realise you saw yourself as a hippy, @Michael?

But the more I think about it, having seen you at Lark in the Park with the daisy chain bracelets, getting high and strumming your guitar, singing “All we need is love…” :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks for the recommendations, all

Oh there are plenty of hippies about and not all have hair. Am hardly a dedicated follower of fashion but get a good cheap cut at FK’s on Honor Oak Park. £9 IIRC.

I think that would have made it an even more enjoyable occasion. Perhaps next year.

A lot of my customers that use the lovely “Rob” on D Rd refuse to go anywhere else!

That’s three recommendations for Rob’s and I’m here as we speak. I drove to avoid the rain (sorry, @comoed!)

Rob’s first question to the guy currently being sheared: “So, are you in or out?” I think Rob and I will get along just fine

Nice one Chris, tell him I said hi & remind him I’m enjoying my day off while he’s working :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Haha, I wasn’t going to mention that but most of his customers (and mine) that have spoke about this are out :joy::joy:

I’ll add my +1 for Rob’s. Lovely, friendly chap with well-informed political views. Like he said, you should go to hairdressers, not pollsters, if you want to get an informed view of opinions in an area.

Another vote for FKs on Honor Oak Park. You’re not going to get the latest West End stylie cuts in there, but if all you crave is a simple trim at a very reasonable price, this is the place for you.

The added bonus is that you can usually walk in and sit right down in the chair - I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait more than about 5 minutes.

I knew you’d get along just fine with Rob :ok_hand:

Oh & just for the record he’s THE original trader still standing in D Rd, he opened his shop in 1971 :tada::tada:

Yes, I’ve been using Rob’s for 40+ years. Cheerful, efficient service and always a fine cut. Highly recommended Is he reopening next week?

After lockdown I’m just going to do my own or get OH to do it.
I don’t really care much about my hair anyway and £10 plus for a quick number 2 doesn’t seem worth it anymore!

@anon5422159  at bringing politics into a hairdresser recommendation thread. Have an unofficial polite slap from me. I do know you did it as a joke.

Surely the statute of limitation applies here! The post in question was from summer 2016! (and in my defence I didn’t mention which political views he had)

lol I didn’t even notice that was from 2016, fair play.

Barbering by Darren at Smoddy Sharp on Dartmouth Road resumes service on July 4th. Though I think the first couple of weeks are now booked.
