Compensation from Thames Water

Continuing the discussion from Banks closing in Forest Hill:

There was a comment in the Bank thread about a £30 cheque from Thames Water.

I opened an unbranded white envelope last week to find a cheque for £50 from Thames Water. So if you don’t always open unknown envelopes, take a look.

I was pleasantly surprised since other than a dip in pressure, I did actually have water throughout. I thought about not cashing it but then recalled the entire August Bank Holiday last year with no water for three days and two sleepless nights while they dug up the road outside. So it’s going to the bank :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

How odd. I was without water for 18 hours and got a cheque for £30.

I think I got a small credit to my account last year after the BH problems so I wonder if it’s a second strike within 12 months, they paid out more? I was away for some of the time so it may be that my water was off but I didn’t notice. Might check with the neighbours.

Anyone care to share the steps on how to get this?

There were no steps. They wrote a few weeks ago and said they were sending a cheque and then they sent it.

I got one for £30 too. No idea why. Cashed it anyway, thanks Thames Water.

I don’t think anyone has been paid enough, I received a letter saying I would receive a cheque for £30 but as I had already checked their site and knew I was entitled to £100 as I had no water for over 30 hours I called them to query it and was told a lot of people were complaining as they were receiving the wrong compensation amounts. Mine was amended and I received a cheque for £100.

I asked as I had another query, but was told I wasn’t entitled to anything :slightly_frowning_face:

A little straw poll:

  • Nothing yet
  • Less than £30
  • £30
  • £31-50
  • £51-100
  • More than £100
